About the project

SalarNet is an independent net-salary calculator for Romania. It exists to answer one plain question well — if my gross is X, what actually lands in my account? — and to show the full path from gross to net so the answer is legible, not a single mystery figure. It is a small, self-funded project, not affiliated with ANAF, any ministry, or any employer or payroll provider.

How we handle the numbers

A salary calculator is only as trustworthy as the rates behind it, so we treat those rates as the serious part of the work. Every contribution rate, tax rate, threshold and allowance is tied to its primary legal source — the Tax Code, the government decisions that set the minimum wage, and the ordinances that create the exemptions — rather than copied from another calculator. Those figures follow the sources cited alongside them; if a rule changed recently it may not be reflected here yet, and none of them has been through our final sign-off — for an official amount, the cited source governs.

Where the law is genuinely unsettled — a rounding rule it does not spell out, or a figure we could only find behind a paywall — we say so on the page rather than presenting a guess as fact. We would rather be honest about a small uncertainty than confidently wrong.

What the calculator covers

The tool models a standard employment contract at the main job — the situation most people are in. It handles the mandatory contributions, the flat income tax, the sliding personal deduction with its dependant, young-worker and children-in-school supplements, and the employer’s own contribution shown as a separate cost. Special situations, such as part-time contracts below the minimum wage or posts with hazardous working conditions, follow their own rules; where they matter we describe them, but the headline result is the ordinary full-time case.

What we don’t do

There is no account to create and no form to fill in — you type a gross figure and read a result, and nothing you enter into the calculator ever leaves your browser. The site does run Google Analytics 4 on every page. Storage for analytics and advertising is denied by default for every visitor, wherever they connect from, and this site has no consent banner that could change that, so no analytics or advertising cookie is set. Google nevertheless receives, for each page view, the page address, the referrer, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and your device or browser type; the full picture is on our privacy and cookie policies. The calculator is a free information service and gives guidance, not tax or legal advice; for a binding figure on a specific contract, your employer’s payroll or an accountant remains the authority.
