Pension age

Men: 65

Men qualify for the old-age pension at 65 years, alongside the full stagiu of 35 years (art. 47, Legea nr. 360/2023). This age is already at the law's own target — the transition for men has finished.

Women: a transition still in progress

For women the standard age is also 65 (art. 47 alin. (1)), but it is reached through a transition still under way, under Anexa nr. 5 — the required age steps up period by period until it reaches the same age as men. For the current period (claims filed July–December 2026), the required age is 62 years and 7 months, with a full stagiu of 33 years and 7 months. This figure has already moved once within 2026 and will move again — it is not a settled number.

There is no route to the old-age pension on stagiu alone, regardless of age — no such provision was found in the articles reviewed of Legea nr. 360/2023.
